ProofSweep verifies employers in the United States only. Our checks rely on US records — federal tax IDs (EINs) and state business registries — which have no direct equivalent abroad, so we cannot verify an employer based outside the US.
ProofSweep (a Twisted English LLC company) is not a Consumer Reporting Agency, and its reports are not consumer reports as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. ProofSweep reports observable characteristics of submitted documents and publicly available business records only. It does not verify identity, creditworthiness, criminal history, or eviction history, and it makes no determination that any person has committed fraud. Risk indicators can have innocent explanations (e.g., employers of record, PEOs, staffing agencies, and small employers using custom payroll templates). Screening decisions remain solely the responsibility of the housing provider and must comply with the Fair Housing Act, the FCRA where applicable, and state and local law, including source-of-income protections.
